Police in Cypress were looking Tuesday for additional victims of a 33-year-old man accused of recording young girls in the dressing room of a dance production company.
At the time of his arrest, Paul Michael Barbour was working as an assistant director and master of ceremonies at a dance production company, according to a release from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
On May 31, Barbour was working at a dance competition held at Cypress College.
The group putting on the dance competition was Kids Artistic revenue. According to Cypress College spokesman Marc Posner.
Before the event began, prosecutors said Barbour placed a hidden video camera inside a changing room and recorded girls, between the ages 12 and 15 years old.
The video camera was found by a mother of one of the competitors who reported it to police, the release stated.
A subsequent search of Barbour’s home resulted in the seizure of over 1,000 images of child pornography and 22 pounds of controlled substances including hallucinogenic mushrooms, according to the release.
Barbour was charged with numerous counts including: one felony count each of possession and control of child pornography and possession for sale of a controlled substance.
The Long Beach man also faced a sentencing enhancement allegation for “possessing more than 600 child pornography images with more than 10 images of a minor under the age of 12,” prosecutors said.
If convicted, Barbour faced a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison and six months in jail.
